This song was an experiment, and I think it's one of the best I've written [yet]. I wrote it after a weekend getting snowed in with my brother and sister. Table Light takes me back to some of the long talks we had that blizzardy weekend.

Table light, I gave
to you my tale.
Though the fire dies!
Tears flow rough and new.

I went to town to see
a trusted friend of mine.
Gin, it poured - too fast -
Till soon I was blind.

Calm, my brother, calm;
Tears flow rough and new; the snow-
Outside it blows
But here I need you.

Know I did not fight,
For then I should have won!
Feeble on that night,
My mind was like a stone.

Breathe, my sister, breathe;
Your comfort is my guide.
The snow outside – it blows!
The fire brings us light.

Blue and black,
The skin was torn and tough.
Had I that night back,
Would I push him off?

Oh, my family tree,
Could daylight clear my mind?
When someone takes your trust,
They cannot take your life.
